Well design and construction

The Institute has many years’ experience in development of design estimate documentation for well construction of different purpose, which allows providing of quality services in the following areas of activities:

  • design of construction of oil and gas wells;
  • design of wells in underground gas storages;
  • development of design documentation for drilling side tracks;
  • design of brine field wells, water supply wells and other wells of special purposes.

 The experts of the Institute perform high quality work on:

  •  development of profiles and designs of directional wells in context of interrelation of their parameters, providing high performance of technological operations;
  • development of design documentation for preparatory work;
  • design of earthfill structures in wetlands and water protection zones;
  • design supervision over well construction projects.

 The following licensed software and advanced program packages are used for providing high quality services associated with well design:

Software package «Sysdrill» by Paradigm is the latest software, which allows in an integrated manner solve the problems of design and construction of wells, monitoring of drilling and engineering analysis in conditions of increasingly stringent requirements of well construction quality.

Software package «Trajectory» is meant for designing of optimum profiles of directional wells and control of well drilling along the planned trajectory in a real-time mode.

Program package «Projektirovanije» along with specific engineering calculations means:

  •  automated compilation of design and estimate documentation for well construction;
  • enhanced reliability and efficiency of designer work due to storing and processing of data, using up-to-date database management system;
  • improvement of quality of design and estimate documentation;
  • transfer of design data to a production database of a drilling contractor.

Well construction

Belnipineft R&D Institute in the field of well construction deals in development, execution of field operations and commercial introduction of new technologies, such as:

  • construction of multilateral wells of 1st and 2nd level of complexity by TAML;
  • design of drilling mud formulations of low density;
  • design of non-dispersing mud formulations;
  • design of new reagents for drilling muds;
  • design of cement slurry formulations with improved properties. 

Belnipineft R&D Institute provides engineering and technological control in:

Lateral hole drilling

  • effective development of drilling instruments;
  • performing of engineering calculations in software SysDrill by Paradigm (creation and analysis of profiles, design of a drilling string with the analysis of forces, hydraulic calculations and casing string analysis).

Flushing fluids

  • use of drilling muds in conditions of abnormally low formation pressures with reduced primary exposure of pay zones;
  • use of emulsions;
  • use of multifunctional cost-effective sapropel-based solutions;
  • calibration of cleaning systems;
  • input check of materials and reagents.

Well casing

  • modeling of hydrodynamic conditions of cementing process in software HydroCem;
  • selection, testing and implementation of advanced casing accessories (including the ones with systems of multi-zone hydraulic fracturing);
  • input check of plugging materials and reagents;
  • selection of effective plugging compositions;
  • testing and implementation of the integrated technology of well cementing, using formulations of cement slurries, based on the new types of cementing materials, additives, filler materials, chemical agents and the system of preparation of dry cement blends;
  • development of engineering documentation for the equipment, its production control and introduction in the course of well casing.
