Belorusneft has started to use electricity more actively for drilling.

Priority now is to set the electric traction for drilling rigs instead of diesel generator. This approach has a positive impact on the competitiveness of products, the stability and resilience of economic indicators. Therefore, the number of technological and peripheral equipment connected to electricity is increasing.

In the period from 2021 to 2025, the implementation of the concept of switching drilling rigs from diesel generators to electric traction will increase the use of electricity by 30 million kWh annually. It is expected that in 2021, the consumption of liquid fuels will decrease by more than 3.5 million liters, and the amount of carbon emissions will be reduced by 9,600 tons.

The task of connecting drilling rigs to external power supply networks was set to reduce the operating costs of drilling and, accordingly, the final cost of well construction for Oil and gas production department Rechitsaneft. The use of electric traction allows you to increase the consumption of your own electricity generated at the block stations of the Belarusian Gas Processing Plant, and reduce the consumption of light petroleum products. The amount of harmful emissions from diesel generator sets during the construction of wells is reduced, which corresponds to the company's environmental policy.
